Hey there friends and family,
I thought this might be a convenient and amusing way for us to keep in touch while I'm travelling, given that international phone calls can be rather expensive. This way, we can leave each other notes at each person's convenience (regardless of time zone), and I can regale you with amusing stories from abroad, and maybe even show you a few photos before I get home! ;)
So, as you may have noticed, I'm not yet travelling. I'm still here in Davis, CA, working full-time at Explorit (which is often an adventure in itself!) and am keeping very busy with teaching summer science classes. Soon enough though, I will be wandering around South America with two of my best friends: Luana, my roommate from my freshman year of college, and Arash, my boyfriend. I am preparing for the trip, however, by investigating hostels, looking up bus schedules (we will be on buses for long periods of time throughout the trip), and attempting to contact a few friends I still have in Chile. I'm also trying to pack up my house in order to move very shortly after my return to the States...so, needless to say, I'm busy!! And that's precisely why I decided to set up this blog site in the few spare minutes I have this weekend...
...so stay tuned!
Love to you all....
Katie

Hi Katie,
Remember when I went to Mexico with my friend Harley? You don't? You weren't born yet??? Oh.
Anyway, I took a simple sip of the water when brushing my teeth and got "Montezuma's Revenge." In my case, Montezuma told the constipation gods to "hit him, hit him good."
I hope Montezuma is friendlier to you.
Love, Dad
