Today is our last full day with my chilean "host family". We arrived on Sunday after having spent the night in the Santiago airport, and after a 7 hour bus ride toward the southern regions of Chile. It was raining so hard the day we arrived that it was difficult for me to even recognize the town I had lived in for 4 months! My host dad and sister came to pick us up at the bus station, and then drove us back to their house. I was so happy to see my host mom that we both started crying when we saw each other!
They have been so wonderful- they even cooked a big vegetarian meal for us when we arrived the first day...how sweet! And they´ve been taking good care of me since then, because I´ve still been a bit sick from drinking the water in Peru. Oops.
Last night Luana and I went out dancing with my friend Carlos last night and had lots of fun...revisiting old hang-outs from when I studied here, dancing to good music (and some bad music... they actually played a techno re-mix version of "YMCA" at the discotheque last night..).
Today we will pre-celebrate Luana´s birthday here with my host family (her real birthday is tomorrow!), which I´m sure will be wonderful, and tomorrow we´ll head back to Santiago to meet Arash at the airport. Yay!
Hoping you all are doing well!

Hey Beautiful,
I'm just about to leave work to head out to San Francisco. I will be seeing you (relatively) soon! I was thinking of picking up some Chipotle . . . would you like anything? :)
I'm so excited about this trip. I can't wait for all of us to journey and see new things. I'll be there soon.
Love,
Arash
Well, our adventuresome granddaughter! Sounds like the beat continues. I wondered how you would escape effects of local drinking water.....oops is right!
Wish Luana a Happy Birthday from us & if this is read before you leave, thank your host family FROM US for the wonderful welcome & care you've received (again).
Love, GM & GM

I hope that Arash got away from US airports before events in england were reported. It could/would make for a very long and unsettling start.
